Drivers traveling on Interstate 80 near Robb Drive and Sparks Boulevard should expect overnight lane reductions and ramp closures this week as the Nevada Department of Transportation conducts routine bridge inspections.
The work is scheduled from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on May 13-14.
On Wednesday, May 13, the Robb Drive on-ramp to eastbound I-80 will close, with a nearby detour available. Both directions of I-80 will also be reduced to a minimum of one lane near Robb Drive.
On Thursday, May 14, crews will conduct intermittent closures of the Sparks Boulevard on-ramps to eastbound and westbound I-80. Only one ramp will close at a time, and nearby detours will be available. Both directions of I-80 also will be reduced to a minimum of one lane near Sparks Boulevard.
Speed limits will be reduced in work zones, and drivers should expect moderate travel delays and allow extra travel time. NDOT said the schedule is subject to change.
The work is part of routine inspections of the Robb Drive and Sparks Boulevard bridges over I-80.
NDOT inspects most Nevada bridges every two years, including city- and county-maintained structures. Bridges with more extensive deterioration are inspected more frequently, while some newer bridges are inspected every four years.
