If you’re planning a trip to Tahoe soon and are concerned about where to store your car for the day, there are two paid parking options that start this weekend and are ongoing into summer.
Both Camp Richardson and Zephyr Cove are offering paid parking programs that begin on May 23rd.
Camp Richardson has installed automated parking gates on Jameson Beach Road for their lot and are charging a $12 Flat Rate Fee for weekend parking either through their mobile app or at a kiosk located on-site. Camp Richardson’s parking will only be in effect during the weekend which differs from Zephyr Cove’s paid parking.
Zephyr Cove’s Warrior Way program is offering $20 weekday and $40 weekend paid parking. On holidays, parking will be raised to $100. All proceeds from the Warrior Way program goes to support Douglas County Schools and their programs.
Douglas County residents are able to park at Warrior Way for free, and you don’t have to do anything, the county will check your plates for you.
And regardless of where you plan on parking this weekend, if you are heading to Tahoe this weekend, it’s recommended that you arrive early as beaches and trails are going to be very popular destinations this weekend.
Be aware that parking along Highway 50 is not allowed on either side of the road. Cars that are parked illegally may be ticketed or even towed at the owner’s expense to keep areas safe. Remember to leave no trace and pick up your trash when your done and ready to head out and stay safe whether you’re out on the roads or outdoors enjoying nature.
