Sparks Police arrest

Following their arrest Tuesday afternoon in Sparks, a man and woman are facing drug and other related charges.

At around 2:35 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1st, Sparks Police officers were called to a business in the Galleria shopping mall after receiving reports of people who were about to leave the store without paying for a cart full of goods.

Officers arrived and saw the suspects trying to flee out of the shopping center in their car.

After being detained, the suspects were later identified as 34-year-old Michelle Perez and 34-year-old Daniel Perez.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects had numerous credit cards in other people's identities, drugs, and drug paraphernalia in their possession.

Daniel Perez was arrested on the following charges: possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of credit or debit cards without consent of the cardholder, and taken to the Washoe County Jail.

Michelle Perez was arrested on the following charges: possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two felony warrants for nonappearance and was also booked into the Washoe County Jail.

The Sparks Police Department, in a statement, reminded the community to be alert regarding the location of your credit and debit cards.

If you carry them in a wallet or purse, keep them with you at all times to avoid unwanted access.

If you think your debit or credit cards are missing and may have been stolen, get in touch with your bank right away to lock your account and guard against possible fraud.
