The pending budget resolution over federal funding for Medicaid cuts stands wavering, as Nevada state officials address local concerns on the Trump-backed proposed bill.
Leaders at Community Health Alliance voiced their concerns on Wednesday, with (D-NV) Senator Cortez Masto and addressed issues that could take a huge hit, if Medicaid cuts are passed.Â
From decreased services, job cuts, and lack of appropriate funding, the decreased budget could potentially wipe out benefits for over 700,000 people in Nevada.
A bipartisan vote is needed in order for Congress to move forward with a decision.
Senator Cortez Masto says, "Medicaid is essential for that type of access to health care, not just for our kids, but for so many that are working hard, that just need help."
The CEO of Community Health Alliance spoke out saying, "We won't be able to serve as many people, we will have to freeze positions, we will have to take a new look a different programs, that you guys are able to see, but I don't want to scare our team, but the reality is if there's cutbacks we'll have to make changes like any other larger organization, corporation."Â
Slashing Medicaid has become a flashpoint in the House debate over the Trump budget bill. Talks over advancing the bill remain in speculation.Â
