A major road project is moving forward, and now the public is being asked to weigh in before construction begins.
The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County has opened a public comment period and scheduled a public meeting for the Sun Valley Corridor Improvements Project.
Community members can review meeting materials and submit feedback online starting today, Feb. 25, through March 27 at www.sunvalleyblvdimprovements.com.
The proposed $87 million project would upgrade Sun Valley Boulevard from Scottsdale Road to 7th Avenue. The effort is led by RTC in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration, the Nevada Department of Transportation, and Washoe County.
The project is at the 60 percent design phase and is moving through the National Environmental Policy Act process. Construction is expected to begin in 2027.
An in-person public meeting is set for Wednesday, March 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hug High School, 3530 Sullivan Lane in Sparks.
