Police say in an effort to crack down on gang-related activity, they conducted two operations in different locations in Reno, to ensure public safety.Â
Police say the first targeted operation conducted by the Regional Gang Unit was in response to a south Reno homicide earlier this month.Â
As a result officers arrested more than ten people.Â

Police say the second operation was conducted near West 2nd Street last Friday and resulted in the arrest of four documented gang members.Â
One suspect, 19-year-old Daniel Aguilar, faces two counts of felony Eluding, Child Abuse/Neglect, allow Child Abuse/Neglect, two counts of Reckless Driving, No Driver’s License, and Obstructing and Resisting an Officer.
24-year-old Kevin Cortes was arrested on a Failure to Comply warrant
A 16-year-old boy faces a parole Violation, and Driving without a Driver’s License while a second boy, 15 years-old faces charges of a Carry Concealed Weapon, Obstruct and Resist Police Officer with Deadly Weapon, and Minor in Possession of a Firearm.
The Regional Gang Unit is a joint effort comprised of officers and detectives from the following
agencies: Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office,
Washoe County School Police, DPS Parole and Probation, and Washoe County Department of
Juvenile Probation and Parole.Â
