Woman arested after hours-long standoff

A woman was arrested after an alleged domestic stabbing led to an hours-long standoff at a Reno home Sunday night, according to the Reno Police Department.

Officers responded about 8:30 p.m. to a home on Green Head Court near Lakeside Drive on a report of a stabbing tied to a domestic fight.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was treated at the scene before being taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

Police said 38-year-old Ann Gutierrez remained inside the home after the stabbing. Officers set up a perimeter around the home while negotiators responded to assist.

Police negotiators communicated with Gutierrez for several hours in an effort to safely resolve the situation.

At about 12:11 a.m. Monday, Gutierrez left the home and was taken into custody without incident.

Gutierrez was later booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on a charge related to battery with a deadly weapon, constituting domestic violence.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Reno Police Department at (775) 334-2121 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900.
