Travelers planning to park at Reno-Tahoe International Airport will soon have a new way to reserve a spot, with changes designed to make the process easier and offer more options.
Reno-Tahoe International Airport will switch to a new parking reservation system beginning Oct. 13. The new system, powered by Aeroparker, will use a four-step online reservation process and let travelers reserve parking in the Long-Term Garage, the airport's parking option closest to the terminal.
The new system will also allow travelers to cancel reservations for free up to 24 hours before the reservation begins. Reservation holders will receive a QR code to scan at the parking entrance, and the code can be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
Parking reservations will be paused from Oct. 1 through Oct. 12 as the airport transitions to the new system.
The changes come after feedback from passengers who used the airport's parking reservation system during the past year. Under the new system, customer service will be handled by the RNO parking team.
Travelers who already have reservations through the previous system, JustPark, will still have those reservations honored through their booking dates.
There are some limits to keep in mind. The reservation system holds a limited number of parking spaces, while the remaining spaces will continue to be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reserved spaces will not be marked.
The airport says parking reservations can fill quickly, so travelers are encouraged to plan ahead and reserve parking online when they purchase their flight. Even with a reservation, travelers should plan to arrive early because finding a parking space can take 15 minutes.
