A pickup truck caught fire late Tuesday night after its driver allegedly tried to hit multiple people working near Pyramid Way and Prater Way.
Sparks Police Department officers responded to the area at about 11:58 p.m. on Sept. 22 for a report of a vehicle fire. When they arrived, they found the pickup fully engulfed in flames.
During the investigation, officers learned the driver had allegedly attempted to hit several people who were working in the area before the truck caught fire. Officers say the truck also struck several traffic cones during the incident.
The driver was later identified as Charles Trester. During the investigation, officers learned that after the pickup caught fire, Trester walked away from the scene.
Officers later found Trester near Rock Boulevard and Prater Way, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Trester was booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on 10 charges of assault with a deadly weapon, a felony, along with misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and failure to maintain lane.
