After allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash in Sparks earlier in March that left a victim with life-threatening injuries, a Reno man was taken into custody on Monday and charged with attempted murder. Â
At around 3:50 p.m. on March 22, 2025 Sparks police officers were called to the intersection of 19th St. and Prater Way in Sparks in response to a report of a car hitting a cyclist.
The cyclist, a 35-year-old male adult, was found by the responding police officers to have suffered potentially fatal injuries and was taken to Renown Medical Center for treatment.
Before the police arrived, the car and its driver fled the scene.
Officers from the Major Accident Investigation Team processed the area before Sparks Police Detectives arrived and took over the investigation.
The incident was caught on video from nearby businesses, which showed that the car had deliberately targeted the bicycle and hit him at a high speed.
Police say more video that was gathered revealed that the cyclist and the car's driver had previously been in a minor dispute after the car's driver almost hit the bike near the intersection of Cauble Street and Prater Way.
The car and its driver, Jeferson Solares-Galicia, a resident of Reno, were identified over the course of the investigation.
On March 31, Solares-Galicia was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder and Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Substantial Bodily Harm.
