Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve

Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve has officially declared this week as Concrete Pipe Week in the City of Reno.

The Reno Mayor's Office says, "With Reno’s rapid growth, changing climate, and increased flood events from winter storms and spring runoff."

The Reno mayor urges the recognition of important strong stormwater infrastructure.

"Concrete pipe isn’t just a construction material; it’s what protects neighborhoods, businesses, and roadways when stormwater threatens to overwhelm the city," says the mayor's office.

Also adding, "The need for durable, resilient, and locally manufactured storm drain infrastructure has never been more pressing."

Reno officials say nearly 17.2 % of properties in Reno are estimated to lie in flood-risk zones.

Reno can benefit from concrete pipe because of its longevity and strength, according to the mayor's office.
