Update (12/29/24 12:29 p.m.):
The Reno Police Department is investigating after a motorcycle rider was killed in a crash involving one other vehicle.
The victim's identity will not be released until the next of kin is notified.
Reno Police, Reno Fire, and REMSA got to the crash at 5:48 a.m. near Stead Boulevard and Silver Lake Road.
RPD says the driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. They do think speed was a factor in this crash.
The Reno Police Department M.A.I.T. (Major Accident Investigation Team) is handling the investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY (12/28/24 6:20 p.m.):
The Reno Police Department is investigating a fatal crash between a car and motorcycle in Stead tonight.
The crash is in the area of Stead Boulevard and Silver Lake Road, near the Stead Elementary School.
Officials are asking the public to avoid the area, and requesting that drivers use alternate routes.
All lanes of Stead Blvd northbound from US-395 are currently closed, and eastbound Silver Lake Road is closed at Peppermint Drive.
Police are expecting these areas to be closed for the next several hours.
It is unknown whether impairment was a factor in the crash; an investigation is still pending.
