Senate Bill 460, the "Education through Accountability, Transparency and Efficiency (EDUCATE) Act," was introduced today in the Nevada Senate.
The bill was introduced by Nevada's Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizarro, and focuses on numerous policy and governance reforms that will boost accountability in Nevada's education system.
The bill's introduction comes after Leader Cannizzaro spent more than a year consulting with experts and advocates in the field of public education.
According to a release from the Leader's office, the EDUCATE Act is divided into five key elements:
- Qualified teachers and staff for every classroom and every school
- Improving student outcomes and achievement
- Giving kids a head start by expanding Pre-K programs
- Improved accountability measure for all publicly-funded school
- Planning for the future of public education in Nevada
