One of our many Share Your Christmas partners is Advocates to End Domestic Violence. They say this food drive helps their clients focus their income less on food and more on other resources to help them build their lives back up after escaping a violent relationship.
Advocates to End Domestic Violence offers up to three months of shelter for victims and their children and help with any court documents such as restraining orders.
They say they're excited for tomorrow. Lisa Lee, executive director, says, "When we built our shelter, we also built a new food bank or a food pantry for ourselves. So, it's going to be the first time we use that facility so we're all excited to use that and we have a lot of volunteers that come out and help that day and it's really great too."
We'll be taking donations for Advocates to End Domestic Violence as well as the Ron Food Family Resource Center and Friends in Service Helping from 6 a.m. to 6 p-m the governor's mansion in Carson City.
You can donate to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and other nonprofits at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, the Carson Valley Inn in Minden, and our 4th location at the Raley's in Fernley!
Lee says, "It's kind of nice the see the Governor's mansion all lit up and ready to receive visitors. So, we'll be there from 6-10 and then that will stock our pantry until May when we do the postal food drive."
If you're unable to donate in person you can also text "share" to 50155.
