On Thursday the State of Nevada held a career fair.

People seeking jobs were able to go to the Carson City Community Center and walk into a room with over 25 state agencies offering over 200 jobs.

This event aimed to help the state fill state job vacancies and so far, it has been pretty popular.

"Right now, we are doing conditional offers and on the spot interviews. So far on Tuesday we had over 300 interviews and 117 conditional offers," said Brian O'Callaughan, Deputy administrator, Nevada Department of Human Resources Management.

On Thursday, over 280 interviews were conducted, and over 60 conditional offers were given out on the spot.

Some of the agencies say these events are very beneficial for them, because it allows them to connect with the candidates, talk to them about job responsibilities, what a long-term career could look like, and go over benefits as well.

We were able to speak with one woman who landed a conditional offer shortly after arriving at the career fair today.

"Oh my gosh I feel so relieved and so happy to have gotten this offer. I've been wanting to get into state or even federal level of working because there are great opportunities for growth, and I was recently laid off, so I definitely needed to get back into the workforce," said Afiya Whitman.
