A semi-truck carrying pigs crashed near the community of Magra late Monday night, and the wreck continued to block lanes on Interstate 80 into Tuesday morning.
According to KOVR, the crash happened around 11 p.m. Monday on westbound Interstate 80 near Magra. The semi overturned and remained blocking lanes for several hours on Tuesday. Authorities reported that some of the pigs did not survive the crash, while others suffered injuries and were being attended to by the regional animal control.
Caltrans District 3, in an update Tuesday afternoon, said that all roads affected in the crash have reopened after having to divert traffic off westbound Interstate at Secret Town Road for several hours.
The California Highway Patrol was at the scene investigating the cause of the crash.
