Officers with Washoe County Regional Animal Services responded to an emu-sing call on Thursday, when a stray emu was reported wandering through the community.
The person who reported the wandering emu was able to keep the bird contained in a yard until help arrived.
The bird was secured and taken to WCRASÂ for safety while officers searched for the owner, but that turned out to be a bird of a different feather, as a WCRAS staff member recognized the emu from a previous instance where it ran a-fowl of the law.
The owner was contacted and the emu was safely returned home.
