North Reno trailer park

Police say a man hallucinating on drugs faces charges in connection with a shots fired case in a north Reno trailer park early Monday morning.

Police say they initially responded to a report of a person who was shot inside a trailer on Parr Boulevard, just after 3:15 a.m.

When they arrived, police say they found the suspect running in the area with a bowie knife.

They say they also found evidence of recently used methamphetamine along with a handgun and multiple firearm cartridge casings and evidence indicating rounds had been fired from inside the trailer, including exit holes in the front of the trailer.

After further investigation, officers determined there was no second victim and that the suspect located nearby was the owner of the trailer. Police say investigators say they determined that the man had likely recently used meth and was experiencing hallucinations, causing him to fire a handgun inside the trailer.

The suspect was identified as 47-year-old Nicolas Cardenas was arrested and now faces charges of being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm, and possession of a controlled substance.
