A suspect has been arrested on charges stemming from a triple homicide at Ely State Prison last year.
In December of last year, the Nevada Attorney General's Office contacted detectives with the Regional Gang Unit looking to find and arrest Andrew Emerich, who was wanted for a triple homicide inside the Ely State Prison in July.
After his release from Ely State Prison, Emerich ended up living in the Reno-Sparks area.
On Monday the Regional Gang Unit, with the assistance of Sparks Police and K9 officers, arrested Emerich on his outstanding warrant.
He was booked into the Washoe County Jail on charges including three counts of murder with a deadly weapon, five counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, five counts of battery by a prisoner with a deadly weapon, and one count of possession of a dangerous weapon by a prisoner. There was also a gang enhancement.
