Travis Smith was arrested in May of 2025 and has now been sentenced in court.
Smith is sentenced to 26 years in prison and will be eligible for parole after eight years.
The Washoe County District Office says he previously pleaded guilty to Duty to Stop at the Scene of a Crash Involving Death and Reckless Driving, Resulting in Death.

A suspect has been identified and arrested in connection to a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened on Eastlake Boulevard.
A suspect has been identified and arrested in connection to a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened on Eastlake Boulevard.
The suspect was identified as 43-year-old Travis Smith, according to a release from the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.
Smith turned himself in to authorities.
He was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility for duty to stop at the scene of an accident causing substantial bodily harm or death.

Authorities are looking for a truck connected to a deadly hit-&-run crash involving a bicyclist, in New Washoe City south of Reno.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is responding to a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened in New Washoe City south of Reno on Wednesday night.
Washoe County deputies responded to the crash around 9 p.m. Wednesday on Eastlake Boulevard, between Guffey Drive and Side View Way.
There, deputies found an unidentified man with serious injuries. He later died at a nearby hospital.Â
Authorities do not have a specific description of the car involved, but they do say it was last seen heading south on Eastlake.Â
This is an ongoing investigation.
