Two people were arrested, and six were cited in a sting targeting people trying to purchase sex conducted by the Regional Human Exploitation and Trafficking unit.
The operation targeted Johns seeking to purchase sex from adults, according to a release from the city of Reno.
During the operation, people engaged in communications indicating their intent to participate in an unlawful sex act in exchange for money, and then arrived at a location to participate in those acts.
Two suspects were arrested for soliciting prostitution, as well as obstructing and resisting. Six were cited for soliciting prostitution.
Among those arrested were:
- 24-year-old Cade Desrosiers
- 34-year-old Semaj Ross
Among those cited were:
- 27-year-old Francisco Morales
- 42-year-old Justin Pera
- 56-year-old Brian Hartshorn
- 38-year-old Jonathan Hanson
- 42-year-old Ryan Dawley
- 30-year-old Nicholas Menendez
While there are areas in the state of Nevada where prostitution is legal, it is against the law in Washoe County.
The goal of the operation was to reduce the demand for illegal sex purchasing, in turn reducing the ability of traffickers to profit from the exploitation and sale of vulnerable people.
