Walmart Robbery arrest

A Sparks store robbery took a surprising turn, prompting a fast police response and investigation on Wednesday night.

Sparks police responded to a robbery report at Walmart on Pyramid Way on the evening of November 12, after a man told dispatchers a suspect had used what he described as a “stun gun” to get away with unpaid merchandise.

Officers arrived around 7:20 p.m. and spoke with the victim, who shared information about the man and another person who had been with him.

According to police, those details helped officers, along with the Regional Gang Unit, identify 43-year-old Sparks resident Michael Cepeda as the alleged suspect.

Police said Cepeda was located shortly after the incident, along with 26-year-old Reno resident Jessica Correa.

Cepeda was arrested on allegations of robbery, use or possession of a stun gun by a felon, and a misdemeanor warrant.

Correa was arrested on suspicion of first-offense possession of a controlled substance.
