UPDATE - AUGUST 7:

A nationwide system outage that caused more than 1,000 United Airlines flight delays has been resolved, but travelers in Reno may still feel the effects heading into Thursday.

The issue stemmed from a disruption to United’s “Unimatic” system, which tracks flight information and is critical for operations like weight and balance. While United restored the system late Wednesday, about 35% of the airline’s flights were delayed and 7% canceled that day, according to FlightAware.

As of Wednesday night, several United departures and arrivals at Reno-Tahoe International Airport were delayed by two to three hours, with no cancellations reported at that time. The airport advised passengers to continue checking directly with United for updated flight information.

Residual delays are expected to continue into Thursday across United’s network, including major hubs like Denver, San Francisco, and Chicago, which could impact connecting flights to or from Reno.

United has issued a travel alert through Sunday and says it is working with customers affected by the delays, including offering compensation in some cases.

Travelers are encouraged to check their flight status before heading to the airport. You can view current arrival and departure information for Reno-Tahoe International Airport by clicking here.
