Update (4/26/2025):
Organizers for today's Arbor Day Event have had to postpone the event due to the weather.
Once a new date and time has been announced, we'll provide an update.
Original Story (4/22/25):
Arbor Day, the annual holiday that focuses on the importance of planting and preservation of trees, is being celebrated at two different events this weekend.
The holiday is celebrated every year in Nevada on the last Friday of April.
On Friday, April 25, the first event is taking place at 12:30 p.m. at Virginia Lake Park Playground, located at 2400 Lakeside Drive in Reno. Attendees can expect to hear from speakers and see the presentation of the Urban Forestry Awards.
Then on Saturday, April 26, a pair of events begins at 9:00 a.m. with volunteer tree plantings happening at both Robinhood and Virginia Lake Parks. The plantings have been organized with the help of Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful. Participants can help to plant around 40 trees between the two locations.
