For nearly eight years, Palisades Tahoe and Placer County have proposed some big changes to the resort, but troubles from the courts have made the project stay in its early stages.

On Friday, Placer County released the final environmental report.

This comes after the courts asked the county to look further into select issues they saw.

A lot of these developments could take place on the large opening parking spots at the resort.

The project is looking to add more hotel space for guests and housing for employees, upgrade the village, add a new fitness facility and a new fire station, and more.

Placer County's Board of Supervisors approved the plans in 2016, but after making its way up the ladder, the appellate court said that the report needed additional analysis in four different areas.

Those areas are wildfire evacuations, construction noise, traffic, and public transit.

"Those areas were analyzed as part of this draft revised environmental impact report and that's what's being brought back forward," said Chris Pahule, Placer County Planning Director.

There are several meetings scheduled in the future for further review from the community and the county's Planning Commission for recommendations and possible questions.

In those meetings, people will get the chance to learn more about the project, read the report, and get information about the project's impact.

"I'd encourage people to get to learn more about the project and participate in these upcoming hearings."

However, for the plans to be set in motion, the county's Board of Supervisors must give the final approval, and a date for that meeting has not been set as of yet.

The next community meeting for the public to learn more and provide input will be next Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:30.
