The Washoe County coroner has identified the man killed in a shooting on Sunday in Downtown Reno on West 2nd Street.
The medical examiner says 43-year-old Darryl R. Smith of Reno was pronounced dead at the scene.Â
The medical examiner says the cause of death was a gunshot wound of the head, the manner of death was homicide.
The Reno Police Department is handling the investigation in this case.Â
UPDATE - OCTOBER 21: One man killed, one hospitalized in shooting in Downtown Reno Sunday
According to a statement by the Reno Police Department, they responded to a report of shots fired in the rear of 229 W. 2nd St in Reno at around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday.
Police say when officers arrived on the scene they found two men with gunshot wounds.
Police say one of the men was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for his injuries, and that the other man succumbed to his injuries sustained in the shooting.Â
Police say that detectives from the Reno Police Department's Robbery Homicide Unit have taken over the investigation and have determined that both men were involved in a fight with each other which ultimately led to the shooting. Â
They say this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.Â
The identity of the deceased man will be released by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Officer after proper notifications have been made.Â

A section of downtown Reno near 2nd Street is closed tonight as an investigation into a shooting is being continued by officials.
Sunday afternoon, reports of gunshots were made downtown in the alley behind El Cortez off of West 2nd Street - at the intersection of Roff Way and 2nd Street.
The Reno Police Department has confirmed that two people have been struck, one person fatally.
A sergeant with the RPD said that there is no threat to the public, and all involved parties are accounted for.
This is an active investigation, and police are requesting the people avoid the blocked off area.
