Washoe County deputies want to remind residents to lock their cars - to help prevent burglaries.
In one recent case, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office says officers arrested 45-year-old Sharice Paris after an alleged car burglary in Washoe Valley. They also say she used the victim’s stolen ID to pawn items. Eventually, she pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 19-48 months in prison.
Deputies offer these tips:
* Lock your doors and roll up your windows.
* Remove valuables from your vehicle.
* Park in well-lit, crowded areas or in a secured garage.
* Use car alarms or anti-theft devices.
To report suspicious activity, call the sheriff's office non-emergency line at (775) 785-WCSO. For burglaries in progress, dial 911 immediately.
