Police arrested a 12-year old student for posting threats to social media, targeting multiple Washoe County schools.

On Instagram, the student posted pictures of weapons and tagged multiple WCSD schools, threatening a school shooting or general violence.

Two separate social media posts were uploaded.

On Saturday, September 7, immediately after receiving word about the posts, WCSD police launched an investigation and collaborated with the FBI.

The student was arrested and charged with two counts of Making Threats or Conveying False Information Concerning Acts of Terrorism - a felony-level count.

There are no ongoing threats to the schools listed in the social media posts, or on the future dates listed in the post.
