SVU Volunteer event

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office's (WCSO) Search and Rescue Specialized Vehicle Unit (SVU) is seeking volunteers for its operations.

According to Washoe County, the SAR unit was founded in 1996. SAR plays a crucial role in enhancing search and rescue operations by utilizing specialized vehicles, including ATVs, boats and snowmobiles.

The vehicles allow teams to navigate the county’s challenging terrain.

Washoe County says, in severe weather, equipped rescue boats are used for water-based rescues, while snowmobiles and ATVs allow access to snow-covered areas.

An event was organized on September 13 to look for volunteers, but you can find more information on volunteering by contacting Washoe County.
