On Sunday around 9:43 a.m. Sparks Police officers responded to 1400 12th Street for reports of multiple gunshots heard.

When officers found and approached the home they believed the shots were coming from, a man answered the door holding a handgun. He then quickly shut the door and went back inside the home.

An adult woman and two young children came out of the home but the man refused to leave.

At that point, the surrounding homes were evacuated. After a while, the suspect came out of the house and surrendered to police.

Police found that 55-year-old Manuel Victorio-Acuna of Sparks was under the influence of alcohol and had been shooting the gun into the air in his backyard.

Sparks Police say nobody was hurt.

Victorio-Acuna was booked into the Washoe County Detention Center for child endangerment, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, and unlawful firing of a gun.
