A man was recaptured after walking away from a worksite at Three Lakes Valley Conservation Camp.
According to the Nevada Department of Corrections (NDOC), 59-year-old Allen Woolard was found missing after his overnight work shift ended at 5 a.m. Sunday morning.
A warrant was issued, and the Las Vegas Metro Police Department recaptured him around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.
NDOC explains that a walkaway is different from an escape because the inmate does not have a secured perimeter to break out of.
It says the purpose of having inmates in a camp instead of a jail or prison allows them to transition back into society easier, as well as providing work experience, and is only for low-risk inmates.
Woolard has been in the NDOC since January 2021, serving 12 to 60 months for possession of a firearm by a felon, and 24 to 60 months for grand larceny.
NDOC says additional charges are pending.
