The Damonte Ranch area has seen a lot of growth over the years, and more is on the way.
Near Double R Boulevard, there's plenty of new developments planned for the future.
"We're going to have about 130,000 square feet of retail and office space for south Reno," said Gary Tremaine, Senior Vice President for Dickson Commerical Group.
Three lots near Double R Boulevard and Damonte Ranch Parkway will soon be filled.
The project is known as the Double R Marketplace.
The big dirt lot towards the very south end of Double R Boulevard will bring many food options to the region.
"So, we're going to have about 45,000 square feet on this lot and we're going to have a grocery anchor and some food users," Tremaine said.
Tremaine says the lot will consist of national organizations as well as local, "mom and pop" shops.
Exactly what businesses will move in remains to be seen, but once they are finalized, work will begin.
"Just basically just looking at the co-tenancy and see who fits best with each other and try and land some of them to come to the Reno market," Tremaine said. "We'll build out these spaces it's called a build to suit. We'll do a build to suit for them for what they're looking for and then we'll turn it over to the tenants."
Tremaine expect doors to some of those places to be open by next spring or summer.
The other two development sites across the street will also be coming down the pipeline here soon.
"It's going to be a continuation of retail and office space," Tremaine said. "We have so much interest in this lot here and we decided to expand and start that construction basically at the same time as this one."Â
The area is also gaining a lot of interest.
"I expect quite a bit of interest, and I'm getting quire of bit of interest in these three corners right now and it's local, regional and national tenants," Tremaine said.
Other than the developments, they are looking to extend Double R Boulevard further south and have it make a "U" shape that will turn back onto Damonte Ranch Parkway.
Tremaine says he does not anticipate the construction to cause any issues with traffic or lane closures.
While there's no exact plan on which stores or restaurants will be coming, he says they are making sure they exercise all options.
"We are looking to see what is lacking in this submarket for use and if we are missing something we'll definitely go out and get it," Tremaine said.
