Thousands of John Deere riding lawnmowers are being recalled over concerns of overheating, leading to fire and burn hazards.
Kawasaki Motors USA is recalling nearly 40,000 ZTrak Zero Turn Mowers with Kawasaki engines - 39,000 of those in the United States, and another 2,600 in Canada.
The affected mowers were sold between October 2018 and September 2024, and have model numbers Z720E, Z730M, Z740R and Z760R.
According to the official recall report on the United State Consumer Product Safety Commission website, it has been found that the voltage regulator in the lawnmower's engine can fail during use, or while the mower is being stored. This can cause the engine to overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.
No injuries have been reported at this point.
Officials say that anyone with an affected mower should stop using it immediately, and take it in to an authorized John Deere dealer for a free repair.
