Spanish nationals were the first to leave the ship which is anchored off Tenerife. Planes carrying French and Canadian nationals left Tenerife later Sunday. A Dutch plane was due to depart with Germans, Belgians and Greeks, while an American plane was expected to arrive around 5:30 p.m. local time.
