Chinese local officials say that a gas explosion at a coal mine in northern Shanxi province has killed at least 82 people. It's the country's deadliest mining accident in recent years. The official Xinhua News Agency reported on Saturday that the accident at Changzhi city's Liushenyu coal mine happened the previous evening. More than 120 people were hospitalized. The cause of the explosion is under investigation. State broadcaster CCTV said many of the injured were affected by toxic gas.
