No Democrat has won a Kansas Senate seat in a century. Can a megachurch pastor change that?

Adam Hamilton is the founder of the nation's largest United Methodist church, and he's attempting to pull off an unusual balancing act in running as a Democrat for the U.S. Senate. Hamilton peppers his campaign remarks with biblical references but also tells voters that he does not plan to use a Senate seat to win more converts. Incumbent Republican Sen. Roger Marshall and the GOP argue that Hamilton is too liberal. Hamilton counters that if Jesus were here today, Marshall would call him “woke.” Only a few ordained ministers have served in the Senate in the past 100 years.
