Federal Enforcement Prosecutions

The U.S. Justice Department has struggled to secure felony convictions against most of the 102 protesters arrested since last year for assaulting federal authorities in four major cities. Of those arrests, The Associated Press found that 41% were dismissed and 34% pleaded down to misdemeanors. The government didn't win any of the 12 felony assault cases that went to trial. The Justice Department maintains that each case is based on facts and federal prosecutors are right to prioritize cases against people accused of assaulting federal officers.
