Two different fires north of the Bay Area are creating hazy skies across the Truckee Meadows, Lake Tahoe region.
At the time of this writing, Reno's air quality is in the moderate range.
The National Weather Service tells 2 News Nevada that the Lucas - and Steele fires are most likely the cause of the haze we're seeing.
The 1,099-acre Lucas Fire is in the Lake and Mendocino counties while the 51-acre Steele Fire is located in Napa County.
CAL FIRE says Lucas is 5% contained and prompting evacuations. About 1,000 personnel are working on the fire. It started late Thursday morning in Potter Valley and remains under investigation.

The Steele Fire started on Wednesday and also remains under investigation.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service in Reno says fire Weather Watches have been upgraded to Red Flag Warnings. The expiration time has also been extended to 2 AM Sunday.
