Experts say that a promising drug that offers complete protection against HIV and requires only two shots a year isn't getting to enough people. Demand for lenacapavir is far outstripping supply in Uganda, other parts of Africa and all over the world. U.S. regulators on Monday approved a generic version for sale in low-income countries. That may help increase access in the coming months. But critics are calling on the drug's maker Gilead Sciences to offer it for sale at lower prices in more countries to help speed the rollout.
