Judge weighs whether Georgia school shooter should get a chance at parole

A prosecutor says a teenager who killed two students and two teachers at Apalachee High School in Georgia carefully plotted the attack to gain fame. Sixteen-year-old Colt Gray pleaded guilty Friday to 55 counts, including murder, for the September 2024 shooting. The minimum penalty for murder in Georgia is life with the possibility of parole, but a judge will decide Tuesday if Gray should ever be eligible for parole. Gray's defense attorney argues that he is not "irretrievably broken" and deserves hope for change. Gray's grandmother and a state official testified that he has improved with treatment and medication.
