Two drivers and a good Samaritan are dead after a head-on crash on Highway 395 in Susanville.

Lassen County Deputies say the incident happened just before 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, just south of the Bass Hill landfill in Lassen County.

Authorities say 46-year-old Kelly Ann Erwin was driving a Dodge Durango south when she passed a semi-truck eventually colliding head-on with a Toyota 4-Runner in the opposite lane. Erwin, along with the Toyota driver, 67-year-old Raymond Edward White both died.

A third person who saw the crash stopped his car on the westbound shoulder to help. While doing so, 52-year-old Steven Ray Bresolin was then hit and killed by a car heading west on Highway 395. Deputies say the other driver stopped and called 911 and waited on scene for emergency personnel.

California Highway Patrol is investigating.

In a Facebook post, the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office says, “our office would like to offer our deepest condolences to everyone affected by this devastating and preventable accident. Furthermore, we would like to remind the public to please remain alert, follow the traffic law and use caution while driving.”
