Local authorities say a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer has shot and wounded a man in Austin, Texas, where anti-ICE protesters gathered at the scene. The Austin police chief said the man was in serious but stable condition at a hospital after being shot Sunday afternoon on the city’s north side. Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said at a news conference that police are investigating. The Department of Homeland Security, which oversees ICE, didn’t immediately respond to requests for details. Davis said Austin police officers were not involved in the shooting. The city's mayor, Kirk Watson, said he wants local police involved in the investigation to provide what he called “clear, third-party eyes” in the process.
