Wall Street rises toward records as US stocks catch up to the world's gains from the day before

The U.S. stock market is rising as it catches up with others around the world that climbed the day before, when President Donald Trump said negotiations were “proceeding nicely” with Iran on ending their war. The S&P 500 added 0.8% Tuesday after trading resumed following Monday’s holiday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 25 points, and the Nasdaq composite climbed 1.3%. All three indexes are near all-time highs. Treasury yields eased in the bond market on hopes that a deal on the Iran war could improve the global flow of oil and reduce upward pressure on inflation.
