A student shot several people at a high school outside Bangkok, killing at least five and wounding several others. Deputy Interior Minister Polapee Suwunchwee says five school staff members died on Friday. The shooter earlier killed his two grandparents at home before going to the school with a gun authorities said belonged to the shooter’s grandfather. Officials say the student gunman then took his own life, The motive is still under investigation, though there were reports he had been stressed in connection with school.
A schoolgirl has died from critical wounds after a student opened fire at a high school and his home outside Bangkok the day before, raising the death toll to at least eight. The 14-year-old shooter opened fire at Debsirin Nonthaburi School before apparently taking his own life. He also allegedly killed his grandparents earlier that morning. The Health Ministry said the 12-year-old girl died after hospitalization. Fourteen people remain hospitalized, with seven in critical condition. The gun was legally registered to the boy’s grandfather. Thailand has one of the highest rates of gun ownership in Asia, and shootings have increased in recent years.
