Tropical Storm Moke is passing to the south of Hawaii's Big Island on Sunday, close enough to dump a foot or more of rain on communities dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Lala. The National Hurricane Center located the center of Moke about 310 miles south of Hilo Sunday morning. Its top sustained winds were around 45 mph, but the real impact is the rainfall in places where last weekend's hurricane downed trees, caused mudslides and washed out roads. Forecasters expected Moke to dump up to 10 inches, with as much as 15 inches in some places on the Big Island, enough to cause life-threatening flooding and mudslides.
