First lady Melania Trump is visiting northwestern North Carolina to talk to elementary school students, teachers and staff about how they’re using technology in the classroom. Her trip Tuesday comes as tech and political leaders debate about how best to regulate artificial intelligence. Prominent tech leaders have said they're worried about the dangers of AI and called for more oversight. But President Donald Trump has dismissed that idea, calling it a “hoax.” A year ago, the first lady sounded a note of caution, saying the technology was at a “primitive stage” and needed “watchful guidance.”
