UN General Assembly Trump

Canada has a new posture on the planet’s biggest diplomatic stage as world leaders convene at the U.N. General Assembly this week. Prime Minister Mark Carney has become a leading voice of what he and some others call “middle powers.” Carney told Canadian media at a news conference at the U.N. Tuesday that, in his words, “Partners are working with Canada because Canada’s predictable, reliable and principled in a world that’s anything but.” The General Assembly meeting is the international community’s premier gathering of the year. And to Carney, it’s an opportunity to demonstrate Canada’s vision of what he calls “values-based realism” that’s “both principled and pragmatic.”
