Nevada students with disabilities still have time to sign up for free summer camps designed to help them prepare for college and future jobs before sessions begin in June.
The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation is offering 29 weeklong pre-employment camps statewide for students with disabilities ages 14 to 21, or 22 under Nevada law. Camps will run Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout June, July, and August.
Locations include Carson City, Dayton, Fernley, Minden, Reno, Sparks, Elko, Ely, Winnemucca, Silver Springs, Yerington, and parts of Las Vegas and its surrounding Southern Nevada counties.
The camps are designed to help students with disabilities build confidence, explore career interests, and prepare for the transition from high school to college or employment.
Specialty camps are also available for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, autistic, or blind or visually impaired.
“These free camps give Nevada students with disabilities the tools and support they need to take meaningful steps toward independence,” said Drazen Elez, Rehabilitation Division Administrator. “Through hands-on experiences and real-world exposure, students are building confidence and discovering new pathways to their future.”
The Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation said camps are customized around five core pre-employment services: job exploration, post-secondary education counseling, workplace readiness training, self-advocacy, and work-based learning experiences.
Registration closes one month before each camp begins, and students may register for one camp per fiscal year between June 2025 and July 2026. Students do not need to be current vocational rehabilitation clients to participate.
The full schedule and list of locations are available at the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation website.
