Winnemucca Fire Danger sign

With high heat and dry wind blowing through the northern part of Nevada the last few days, the fire danger levels have been high.

With this in mind, the Winnemucca Rural Fire Department has announced a burn ban that takes effect on June 15, and is in place until further notice.

According to a recent post from the fire department on Facebook, the ban includes burn barrels, but excludes brick, block or cement fire pits.

The department says that any illegal burning can result in a fine of up to $350.

For more information about the burn ban, you can call the main fire house of the Winnemucca Rural Fire District at (775) 623-6351.
