A Nixon man is currently in jail after a bar fight got out of control over the weekend in Elko.
At around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 26, Elko Police were called out to a bar in downtown Elko over a report of a stabbing.
Officers arrived to find two men fighting - once the fight was broken up, one of the men involved showed officers that he'd been stabbed in the upper torso.
The alleged suspect, Derek Thomas, was arrested for battery with a deadly weapon and then booked into the Elko County Jail.
The victim, who has not been named, was treated at Northeast Nevada Regional Hospital for his injuries.
Detectives with the Elko Police Department are still investigating this case, and are asking anyone with cell phone video of the fight to reach out to Sergeant Nielson by phone at (775) 777-7310.
